Sturdy, long lasting and utterly captivating. The amaryllis is the show stopper of the festive season and it would be a mistake to not have these perfectly seasonal flowers in your home over Christmas. They can last up over two weeks and bloom sequentially giving a long display.

Top tip is either to insert a slender cane up its hollow stem to give the head support whilst it blooms or turn the flower upside down, pour water down its stem and plug with cotton wool. Replace the stem back in to the vase of water and this will ensure that a good water supply is maintained.
